Today was my final sewing class in the basic lessons. Necessities included threading the bobbin, pinning up the finished pattern cutouts, running the machine, and steaming seams. There was much to do, but unfortunately, not much time to do it in. My project remains unfinished, and due to a few unfortunate hitches, I became as familiar as I care to with the seam ripper. Actually running the machine was also a bit twisted. I got a rush of eagerness and nervousness at the same time running through at a 5/8ths seam allowance.

Still, can't say an unfinished project is necessarily a bad thing. Before I wrap this up on my own, I can learn a lot from what I've done, and Mrs. Noel is a great teacher. With a little practice, I think I could get the hang of this, and some recent rearrangements give me plenty of room to work around here....still, I think I'll be getting a few affairs in order before I take on another class. Rounds 2 and 3 offer some more insight into the more specialized areas of sewing. I've got the knowledge and I have the confidence.....AFO....friends.....but foremost, the embodiment that is KuxOneNine....cast me the final element.....just beyond the next two weeks.....give me resolve!

Moving on, one of my favorite series ever is Super Robot Taisen: The Original Generation. The PS2 collective remake/update of OG 1 and 2 was released a little before Metro, so I didn't have much time to get at it (my copy arrived on the first day of my sewing lessons, with Metro starting the very next day). Today I came to a pretty sobering level.....

It's common enough to see people die in RPGs, and sometimes it's a major player in the story. In this case, it's Captain of the Hagane, Daitetsu Minase. Leading the main charge during the L5 Campaign, Minase was a pretty bold old dude as far as the OG Ranks go. Time and time again, he'd use Steel Two (Hagane) to buy time for the PT squads to carry out their mission, facing near-complete destruction on many occasions. Unfortunately, during this charge against the Zuvorg Inspectors, he'd face an unforseen element....Steel One, the Shirogane, launched a surprise attack with it's new ASRS Stealth Function. The attack connected with the bridge and mortally wounded the captain.....when enemy reinforcements began to overwhelm the OG Ranks, his last orders were to take a shot at the enemy stronghold with the ship's HTB Cannon, cut the gravity brake and ride the blast to safety, ordering all PT squads to leave in the process.

.....well, that's the short end of it. The truth is that I love this part and hate it at the same time. It's such an emotionally gripping point. Captain Minase was a leader and friend to his forces. He knew what they has to do as soldiers, but he always put the well being of his allies first. It's clear Banpresto wanted to communicate this, as the section has many new emotions for the character icons....some that don't appear anywhere else in the game (Katina Tarask crying....I never thought I'd see the day). I guess they care about it because these guys are bigger mecha otaku than I am (But I'm the greatest in Florida! No mistakes there!). They go the extra distance each time to make sure they're putting out something to be proud of.

......that reminds me. I'll have to do a Kyosuke Nanbu once I have the skills. I can relate to that dude on a number of levels.
